Episode 2: Griff Goes On A Date (4 of 7)
STC: Humble Beginnings pt. 4
With no investors to speak of, Patrick MacBlain (literally) sold the farm to finance the pilot episode of Space-Time Condominium. While the one time beet farmer finalized the sale of the family farm, Milt Bradley started assembling the cast and crew. One roadblock presented itself early in pre-production: casting the leads.
Space-Time Condominium’s meager budget allowed for minimal special effects and the amount of green screen editing needed to bring FIVE Griffin Griffins to life would be costly. Rather than burden the production with trick photography and “movie magic,” Milt did the unthinkable– he put casting call out to identical twins. After auditioning hundreds of doubles, he got more than he bargained for: identical quintuplets.
The rarest of multiple births, the Montreal born Debreau brothers were only the second case of identical quintuplets to survive birth, the first being the Ontario born Dionne sisters. The odd coincidence that both cases of surviving identical quintuplets were born on Canadian soil is a point of pride for Canada, though rumors of inbreeding have been quietly spread as the cause of these freak occurrences across the rest of the world.
There are no facts reinforcing this theory however, reaffirming the counter-theory that the rest of the world is simply jealous of Canada’s awesomeness. Suck it, world!
