Episode 2: Griff Goes On A Date (6 of 7)

Jonathan Debreau at the family farm, Manitoba 1986
The Debreau Brothers: Five Points of Light, One Star pt. 2
Life in Manitoba was fairly quiet, but one of the Debreau brothers caught the acting bug early, Delores Debreau remembers:
“Jonathan was a handful. He was completely enthralled with American television. He would reenact episodes of his favorite show screaming, “I want a black friend and a train! I’m a Silver Spoon!”
When I explained to him that it was all make believe he pitched a fit! He would pout until he was blue in the face. I even caught him painting his brother Donnie with shoe polish. It was weeks before Jonathan stopped calling him Alfonso. He was obsessed!”
Jonathan’s obsession with Ricky Stratton continued long after the shows cancellation in 1987, and in 1990 Jonathan enrolled at the New School of Drama in Toronto.

It took me until today to realize it’s the vanilla ice version that gets the idea

It’s weird, ’cause I thought it was pretty clear, but I’ve heard from a couple of readers that it was a “huh?” moment.
Maybe I’ll fix it so it reads easier down the road. It’s kind of important in a later episode.
