Episode 3: Griffin Comes Out (1 of 5)
The Debreau Bros: Five Points of Light, One Star pt.4
As it turns out, Jonathan wasn’t really cut out for Stand Up. Barely scraping by with money he would beg for at open mic nights, Jonathan became known as the most incoherent comedian on the Toronto club circuit. His act often consisted of bouts of consciousness and unintelligible ramblings, culminating with Jonathan curled in a ball in tears, whispering, “Come back to me, Alfonso…” into the microphone. It was a dark time.
Fortunately, audiences took to Jonathan’s “act,” and his popularity spiked long enough for him to scrape together enough money to rent a small studio on the outskirts of town. In a small bar down the street from his apartment, Jonathan met Samuel Pearce, an aspiring actor who would eventually become his closest friend. Samuel remembered the famous Debreau Quintuplets, and told Jonathan about an open casting call for a new show that he thought he and his brothers would be perfect for– a show called Space-Time Condominium.
