Episode 4: Griffin Murders Himself (5 of 6)
Season One & Only: A New Beginning
Under Scott Coles’ supervision, Space-Time Condominium was completely overhauled. With Scott Coles leading the charge, the network executives retooled the show to appeal to a younger demographic. CHCH TV11 hoped to compete with Fox’s hit show, “Herman’s Head.” Storylines were simplified and humor came cheap. It was a controversial move to be sure, especially for the show’s creators. Milton Bradley recalls:
“At first we were just happy that someone had taken notice of our work. It didn’t take long, however, to see through Coles’ veil of lies. Patrick and I were still on the writing staff at that point. It gave us a glimmer of hope that “STC”… gah, I hate that…anyway, we were still hopeful that Space-Time Condominium could still resemble what we originally intended to produce. We decided to affect change from the inside. I decided to roll with the punches. Patrick thought I just plain rolled over.”
Thus began the discord between Patrick MacBlain and Milton Bradley.
Still, MacBlain and Bradley worked hard to make the show entertaining. The original cast reunited and a new, professional film crew was assembled. Filming for “Episode 2: Griff Goes on a Date” began on September 12, 1993.
