Episode 6: Griffin Goes Off the Deep End (5 of 5)

Episode 6: Truly the Beginning of the End

Though his partner Patrick MacBlain was content with the direction STC eventually took, Milton Bradley strived to bring Space-Time Condominium back to its dramatic roots. Step one in his plan: make one of the Griffins a serial killer. In a very candid phone interview, Milton explains his controversial decision:

“As the series went into full swing, (Executive Producer) Scott Coles went into business mode– scouting locations, managing the budget… that sort of stuff. He basically left the writing staff to carry the torch creatively. I took it upon myself to bring the show back on track. Sure, most of the serious stuff was still played for laughs, but the dick and fart jokes ceased to be our focus. Patrick was terrified that we’d get fired from our own show… so much so that he worked behind the scenes to undermine my authority with the rest of the writing staff. Looking back I can almost see where he was coming from, but I still think that he’s a spineless twat. After all we’ve been thought… the highs and lows…

I’ll never forgive him.

Still, for a brief time I was able to create something I am truly proud of. I was even able to use some of the unaired pilot footage for episode seven. I considered that a big win for us.”
