A Villain Revealed! pt. 2
This week we continue our interview with STC co-creator, Patrick MacBlain.
So was the idea for this villain in the original show?
Oh, yeah. We set the show in 1985 for a reason. I’m a huge fan of comics, and the character and situation are HUGE nods to what was going on in comics at that time.
Who is he? What does he want?
You know, I don’t want to spoil it. This is Dave’s story to tell now. It may take him five years to tell it, but it’ll be worth the wait. Let’s just say he wants revenge—for something that happened in Season One.
Oooh, mysterious. So looking back on Season One, do you have any regrets?
Not at all. I was so young. A beet farmer turned television writer. I look back on my time with the cast and crew fondly.
Have you and (STC Co-Creator) Milton Bradley ever reconciled?
Milton and I… have a strange relationship. I saw him at the San Diego Comic-Con a few years back. It’s bound to happen in our circles. I’ll never forget, he came to my autograph table, and put a copy of the Space-Time Condo limited edition comic in front of me. I didn’t know what to do… so I signed it.
After years of silence that must have been awkward.
You bet! He slipped it into a mylar and said, “We did it, kid. We did it.” And then he just disappeared into a crowd of people. It was surreal. I guess that was his way of apologizing.
[EDITOR’S NOTE: www.spacetimecondo.com contacted Milton Bradley about this incident, and he vehemently denied ever seeing MacBlain at SDCC, adding, “If I ever saw that punk on the circuit, I’d beat him until he peed his pants in front of his adoring fans. Him and Scott Coles”
