Justin Greenwood has been a great friend for a long time, and when he agreed to do a pin-up for the upcoming STC trade, I could hardly contain my excitement. Welcome back… sorta. I’m back on schedule! “Back in the Day” is DONE! Now it’s just a matter of giving it one final walkthrough, and it’s off to the printer with a new company, a new imprint… and old friends. We’re almost ready to make that big announcement, and I can’t wait ’til you see what we have planned!

It’s been a few days since I’ve posted, but I wanted to let you all know that things are going well. I’ve finally settled into my new place and have been hard at work on Back in the Day. I finally finished greytoning the book, and I’m hard at work on the lettering. Revisiting the project as the letterer has been a lot of fun– some of the dialogue has me laughing out loud, and the story has a lot of heart. I really wish I wasn’t such a talky bastard in it, though. Trying to fit all that dialogue on the page is a challenge!

I’m also coloring a new project for a new, top secret comics company. I can’t really write more about it, though I’d love to. I’ll just hint that someone you know… maybe someone involved with STC (wink wink) is their new creative director. The creative team is top notch, and I have no doubt that this flagship title will knock you on your ass. Look for an official announcement soon…

I’ve never been big on sketchcards, but when my Gnome publisher and partner in crime, Jason Martin, called to ask me to pitch in for his Pulp Girls set with 5finity, I couldn’t resist. I’m not quite what the street date is, but the cards are popping up on ebay:

Psycho Griffin… is BACK?! Sure looks like it, don’t it? Don’t fret, all will be explained… in a few weeks.

Yep, I’m sorry to say that STC is going on a little break. Before you get your panties in a bunch, I should say that while new pages won’t surface until Wednesday, August 25th, I’ll be hard at work to finish Back in the Day and starting the 11 bonus pages for the Space-Time Condo Season One Collection.

I meant for both of those projects to be completed during my last break, but life has been kicking me in the ass. My close friends know that I’ve been going through a lot recently, and I need a little break to clear my head and refocus on the work.

I’ll still be popping in with random goodies, and rest assured– STC will be back on August 25th.

Thank Christ we’re through “Griffin Goes to the Mall.” Sometimes I write stuff that reads fine in script format, but when it’s split up to a page a week it’s just… painful. I’m sure it’ll read fine when collected (especially with what’s coming down the road), but the last few weeks have been a pacing nightmare.

Well, we’re moving on with a with a story called “Griffin Gets Replaced,” and I think you’ll like where we’re headed. Next week’s page will floor longtime readers, and be a great jumping on point for new ones. So tell a friend!
