Dwonch the Raunch!

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Some of you probably know that I’ve been a co-host of the popculture podcast The Geek Savants for nearly three years. Last Sunday we released The Savanties, our annual awards show, showcasing the best in popculture in 2009. Before we started recording, my co-host held up a sheet of paper full of notes and quietly said “I have commercials.”

His four mock commercials drew from some of the funnier moments from the show, and one in particular involved two of my more unhealthy vices.

I thought it was hilarious and wanted to share it with you:

Dwonch the Raunch

If you thought that gag was funny, and haven’t given TGS a try, you really owe it to yourself to give us a listen. With almost 150 episodes in our archive and more laugh out loud moments on the way, now is the perfect time to jump on board!

Green Arrow in the Ass!

I’ve posted the funniest commission I’ve ever had the privilege of drawing on The Geek Savants Podcast website. While you’re there, listen to a couple of episodes. The one-two punch of the drawing and TGS will make your day.

A warning: None of what I’ve described above is safe for work!

The Geek Savants Episode 200

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

I don’t mean to be sappy, but it’s 4AM and I’m feeling thankful. Tonight was one of the best nights of my life, and I can’t let it go without putting to print what made tonight special. Tonight was the four year anniversary of my podcast, The Geek Savants. It’s been a long and sometimes hard road, providing what we consider entertainment to a mostly faceless audience, and while I wasn’t keen on producing a “live show” (only live for those in attendance, this is still podcasting, after all) we pushed onward and, after months of planning (mostly by my co-host, Super Ugly) we did just that: recorded in front of a live studio audience.

I was a bit terrified, but the support shown tonight was overwhelming.

Tonight I’m thankful for the friends that came out to support us. The beautiful women that kept this from being a sausage fest. The fans and friends that traveled out of state to join us. The listeners who remained anonymous until tonight.  The people that were almost arrested. The burlesque performers that raised everyone’s blood temperatures, and the artist and writers that rallied around us,  in the collective pursuit of laughter.

Thank you. All of you.

For the most part, I live in a bubble, content to write, draw, and create for an unseen, unheard fanbase. The work that I put into the comicbooks and podcast are done blindly, and I’m always wondering who is actually reading, actually listening. Tonight your voices, your laughter were heard, and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much for supporting me, my work, and my podcast.

And I want to especially thank my co-hosts. Grant, Ron, Brian and John– we started this thing as an excuse to get together and, while I don’t think we actually need a reason, I’m glad to  be able to spend my free time with you. I love you guys. Thanks for the four years. Here’s to many, many more.
